The Pretty PennyRanch has been sold to Calvis Wyant, property developer.
Although we will miss this landmark in our community, the sale does not come as a surprise in the current real estate market.
This transaction will ultimately result in 10 one acre properties in an exclusive gated community. The positive news is that the homes will be in line with the current neighborhood appearance.

The bad news is that Calvis Wyant are proposing that the entrance to the gated community be inside the entrance to Northsight Park at 84th st and Thunderbird……… Yes, Inside the park entrance!
The main concern is the proposed access. The developer proposes access through the park by enlarging the park entrance and accessing the development from the east.
The only reason we can come up with is that the developer wants to capitalize on the gated, exclusive ambience. Calvis Wyant should be aware that they are not planning within the character of the existing neighborhood.
Our area is one of the finest open neighborhoods in Scottsdale with large groups of bicyclists riding the streets on the weekend, kids go all over the neighborhood to play, joggers, walkers, horses, and open streets.
Access by widening and extending 84th St into the park would diminish the park's rural character by the extension of a new residential street into the park.
There would be additional traffic using the park entrance
Decrease in safety for children entering and exiting the park - at an already dangerous intersection because 84th to T-bird is used as a bypass from Hayden.
There would be disruption of park access and use for a lengthy period of time (maybe 2 to 3 years) due to construction access, activity, heavy vehicles and personnel.
After the construction is complete, there will be at least 30 private vehicles using the park entrance for access to the gated community. Not to mention all of the other traffic - mail, garbage, yard crews, and delivery vehicles.
We don't want to see yard crews or other persons hanging out at the park which is what will happen because of the proximity. Surely residents will have reservations about sending their kids to the park under such circumstances.
It is hard to imagine that with the scarcity of park land, Scottsdale city leaders would allow for the erosion of park amenities for the benefit of private development - especially within a beautiful, older, existing neighborhood that has such a nice park as one of its main attractions.
To allow an entrance like what has been proposed is generating strong dissent within the area. The people who would occupy such a gated neighborhood will not be able to take part of the spirit in the neighborhood as they could otherwise.
The neighborhood is filled with families and children that use this park every day. The park is small as it is - we should keep every inch of it!
Encourage City leaders to preserve the integrity of Northsight Park.
